Why Do These Women Stay With Those Husbands?

It seems as if everybody’s reaction to Governor Spitzer’s situation was, “I can’t believe his wife is standing next to him. Bet she’ll divorce him in a few months.” People were equally surprised, if not indignant, when Hillary Clinton did not drop Bill (or for that matter Jacqueline Kennedy or Eleanor Roosevelt) despite their husbands’ indescretions. Are these women insensitive? stupid? not caring? Not so fast!

First of all, and hard to believe: visiting a call girl probably has nothing to do with the wife! Hard to believe? It used to be said (I always saw this as a put down for women) that “he strayed because she wasn’t a good enough sex partner.” Nonsense! He strayed because, as President Clinton recently said, “[He] could.” It has nothing to do with the wife being out of shape after three children or frazzled because of taking care of the house, plus a job plus a mother-in-law with alzheimers. It has to do with POWER and MALE PEROGATIVES.

Does visiting a call girl or sex worker make a man a poor husband? Let’s see what makes a good husband? Kindess, love of his children, attention to family needs - a good husband is generally a good man. Do some good men act out sexually? Ever been to a convention? An after sports event? A fraternity reunion?

Call girls’ customers are most often married, successful men who see sex another merchandise to be bought when needed or wanted.

Many married men and women have affairs. Affairs break hearts. Paid sex breaks the budget.

Tell me what you think.

Topic: complaining to our kids

It’s not easy to be old, despite what they say about the Golden Years.  Mostly, the world ignores you.

Question: should we or shouldn’t we complain to our kids?
